Shame on Me.

Today I asked for a joint session of Congress where I will lay out a clear plan to get Americans back to work. Next week, I will deliver the details of the plan and call on lawmakers to pass it.

Since the president has to be invited to address congress, he formally asked Boehner to be invited to address the House on Sept. 7...the earliest date after the recess.

Boehner, being the asshole he is, denied the President's request and suggested the following day. Of course apart from just the sheer thrill of thwarting Obama, Boehner is more interested in protecting the Rethugs presidential debate than he is in the creation of jobs for the downtrodden.

The media, which thrives on controversy, hyped this non-issue for all they are worth.
This is the "liberal" MSNBC:

Boehner rebuffs Obama; suggests new day

According to presidential historians, this is the first time that a president has been denied a request to address a joint sitting of the congress.
Think about that.

But all of the above did not depress me.
That is what I have come to expect from the Republicans. And from the media.
No, what depressed me was the response on this my beloved site.
The response was almost uniformly negative. And condemnatory.
Absolutely depressing.
Can't we do better than this?
Is this what progressive politics have come to?
Is there no longer any room for civility?

Breaking News: Obama caves(62+ / 0-)

I am shocked!

I know my first thought was, "I didn't (6+ / 0-)

think I was voting for such a wuss." Actually I thought another word but it was to politically incorrect for me to use here.

President Boehner wins again.(37+
fucking wimp.

These quotes are not from Red State, y'all.
These are from right here on this liberal site.
No discussion of the unprecedent dissing of the president.
No discussion of Boehner's lack of class.
No discussion of the media playing the people of this country for Jersey Shore idiots.

No, Boehner and his antics do not depress me.
Rush Limbaugh does not depress me.
You do. And only because I actually chose to ignore what Malcolm X preached some long time ago. I chose to give you the benefit of the doubt.
Shame on me.
