Help me educate the "liberal" Mika about the GOP's campaign to suppress the vote

It is one thing when a conservative Republican doesn't know of - or acknowledge - the fierce battles black people have had to wage to get the right the vote.
I submit that it is just downright nauseating when a high profile "journalist" who professes to be a liberal doesn't appear to know or understand that history.

This morning, Joe Scarborough went after those who have dared to organize against the GOP's efforts to suppress the vote. How dare they call it racist, he demanded to know.

"You read the New York Times, and you read these other media outlets that, again, make politicians in North Carolina and Texas sound racist for just saying, 'Hey, you're going to need a picture ID to prove you are who you are,'" the conservative Republican said on his MSNBC "Morning Joe" program. "I'm reading all of these stories that talk about, basically, you're putting a white hood over the governor of North Carolina, putting a white hood over the entire Texas legislature," Scarborough continued, referencing some depictions of Republican lawmakers as if they were members of the Ku Klux Klan.

While the conservative Joe Scarborough ranted and raved about this horrible injustice of mischaracterization, the liberal Mika was caught vigorously nodding her head and as soon as the man allowed her a word in edgewise she added her two cents:

"Most Americans would think it's not racist to ask somebody to just have a picture ID. I think that this is a really healthy discussion that has been had out in the media in a completely one-sided way. And your side of it is a fair argument," she said, adding: "No one goes there because it's not PC."

Uh? You are forgiven if you mistook that for a quote from the half-Governor from Alaska, Sarah Palin. No, that was our own ally, the liberal counterbalance to Joe Scarborough.
