I don’t know about you, but ever since I heard of the wanton, murderous terrorism that was unleashed on El Paso and then on Dayton, I’ve been waiting for one voice. That one voice that has the moral authority, the clarity of thought, the intellectual and emotional depth, the historical understanding to speak to a country in crisis. He didn’t speak yesterday (I suspect that the family was off the grid); he spoke today and it’s a must-read.
