Dear Ms. Crowley.
When I heard that you were chosen as one of the moderators for this year's presidential debates, I was fit to be tied. "Anybody but Candy Crowley," I fumed.
CNN has been the standard bearer for the both sides do it doctrine and you have been a most loyal employee.
Last night. as I watched the attempt to bully you into submission and the way you responded to that attempt, I felt a glimmer of respect for you. You deserved to be treated with respect, you weren't but you stood your ground.
That glimmer of respect grew when you dared to correct the record.
That act - for which the right wing have decided that you must be punished - must have taken a tremendous amount of courage. It was obvious to me that if you could, you'd have taken it right back. Having said it, you wanted to move on as fast as you could.
And of course, you couldn't resist the urge to do a little of the "both sides do it" dance:
"...but it did as well take 21 days..." you went on to say. There, are you happy now, Governor?
Not to worry because that look on Mitt Romney's face when you fact checked him was priceless.
Because you made this look possible, Ms Crowley, I take back every, single negative word I have ever said about you.
This is simply one of the best tv moments ever, imho:
