The Capturing of the Coyote

When the life of a coyote is deemed to be of more importance than the life of a black man.

There have been many sightings of coyotes in Manhattan, New York.
According to CBS, one female coyote was spotted in the city on Saturday morning, and the police were called. Below are snippets of news reports as to what happened:

Police chased after the female coyote after a pedestrian spotted the animal trotting through Battery Park City around 6 a.m., the New York Post reported.
The pursuit with police patrol car lights flashing lasted more than two hours.
The paper said police collard their prey with a tranquilizer dart as it cowered under the tables and chairs of an outdoor café.

Multiple officers were dispatched to the Battery Park neighborhood near the southern tip of Manhattan Saturday morning to catch the female coyote, the department said.
No humans or animals received any injuries in the capture.

To summarize, a lone coyote was spotted; "many" police officers responded in police cars, a chase ensued. Reports put the time spent chasing the coyote as anywhere between an hour and two hours but not less than an hour. The coyote was eventually captured, tranquilized and taken to the Center of Animal Care and Control where it was examined and will be released into an "appropriate wilderness area."
